Homework #3

This homework will have you using more advanced CSS/HTML. Of course, you may use Dreamweaver if you'd like.

The idea is simple: you'll get to pick something new that you want to learn, and then you'll learn it/do it.

What to do

Here's the general outline of what you'll do:

  1. Pick a topic/task (see the list below)
  2. Create a new XHTML strict page and use that new topic/task/thing you learned on the page
  3. Be sure to not just copy the example/code given on the page. I expect you to understand the code, and change the look/make it your own.
  4. Fill the page up with a respectable amount of content (and graphics?). The page should be about a certain topic and be in full sentences where appropriate (e.g., not just a jumble of words). It should look fairly presentable and nice!
  5. At the very bottom of the page, give a link to the task site (see the list below) and explain how you used it on your page and why you thought it was a good fit for your page's content
  6. Submit it! (see below)

Possible tasks/topics

Not all topics are equal! That is, some topics may be more difficult to understand than others. Still, you should pick the topic that interests you the most. I know which topics are harder to do than others, so if you pick the easiest topic because you're lazy, then you should be sure to use the new knowledge in a good/interesting/creative way to make up for the lack of difficulty. :-P

If you'd like to do something new that we did not cover in class and is not on the above list, then ask me / email me to get approval. Most of those tasks were taken from a larger list of advanced CSS/javascripts topics.

Submission

To submit your homework, you should:

  1. email me the link to your web page. I will email you back to say that I received your link.

Homework #3 will be graded in the following way (30 pts total):
